SARDINE is pleased to present ‘The World is Ending’ featuring artwork by Maria Calandra, Vincent Como, Ryan Falkowitz, Sophia Frydman, Brendan Loper, Karen Schifano, and Lizzie Wright organized by Jon Lutz. ‘The World is Ending’ opens with a reception on Saturday, February 29 from 6 to 9 pm and will run through April 5, 2020.

The world as we know it will end for humans - rightfully so. Eventually nature’s magnificence, with all of her powers, will prevail. This is my one comfort. I only wish I could be here to see it. - Maria Calandra

The world ending makes me relieved. This is why we can't have nice things… - Vincent Como

The end of the world is an invention born of our species’ vanity and prejudicial  relationships with nature and being. - Ryan Falkowitz

The cry "the world is ending" sounds frantic, frenzied, and yet also it is a frighteningly accurate description of the time we live in, in which the planet is being killed, destructiveness and greed reign, and compassion and reason have gone missing. - Sophia Frydman

Live each day as if you are auditioning for the final seat on the last spaceship leaving Earth. - Brendan Loper

The world is ending, because we love change but resist changing ourselves. - Karen Schifano

In terms of the world ending, maybe it will go in reverse, back to hunter gatherers and then to cave dwellings? I feel especially sad about animals suffering. Not sure what I would do personally in the last few days other than chain smoke and hang out. Beach if possible. - Lizzie Wright
